Buy Guns Online in Tennessee

Tennessee is one of the easiest states in the country to buy a gun online. There is no purchase permit, no registration and no state waiting period — you order, we ship to the licensed Tennessee dealer (FFL) you choose, and you pick the firearm up after a quick background check. Updated October 2026.

How it works — 4 steps

  1. Pick your firearm. Browse handguns, rifles, shotguns or the full catalog — over 50,000 listings.
  2. Choose a Tennessee FFL dealer. Enter your preferred dealer at checkout, or leave it blank and we assign a licensed dealer close to you at no additional cost. See our Tennessee transfer-fee guide for real dealer fees in Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Clarksville and Murfreesboro.
  3. Pass the check at pickup. At the dealer you complete ATF Form 4473 and the dealer runs the Tennessee Instant Check System (TICS) — Tennessee runs its own checks through the TBI rather than the FBI directly. The TBI fee is $10 per transaction.
  4. Take it home the same day. Tennessee has no waiting period. Once the check clears, you're done.

Why buy from a Tennessee dealer

We're an online-only Tennessee firearms dealer. No showroom markup, a catalog far deeper than any counter in the state, and the same process you'd get buying from a big out-of-state site — except your money stays in Tennessee and our team actually knows TBI's rules. Parts, magazines, optics, and ammunition don't need a dealer at all: they ship straight to your door.

What it costs, with no surprises

The price on the product page plus shipping, your dealer's transfer fee (typically $20–$40 at independent Tennessee shops; big range chains charge more) and the $10 TBI check. That's the whole list. Our fee guide lists what real dealers across the state charge.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a permit to buy a gun in Tennessee?

No. Tennessee has no purchase permit, no registration and no state waiting period. You fill out ATF Form 4473 at the dealer and pass the TBI background check (TICS) at pickup.

Can a gun be shipped straight to my house in Tennessee?

No. Federal law requires every modern firearm to transfer through a licensed dealer (FFL). Ammunition, magazines, optics and parts do ship straight to your door.

How long does it take?

Shipping to your dealer typically takes a few business days. Tennessee has no waiting period, so once the TICS check clears at the counter you take the firearm home the same visit. A 'delayed' check can take up to 10 business days to resolve.

What does the transfer cost?

Your receiving dealer sets the transfer fee — most independent Tennessee shops charge $20–$40 — plus the $10 TBI background-check fee. One order with several firearms still needs only one $10 check.

How old do I have to be?

From a licensed dealer: 21 for handguns, 18 for rifles and shotguns. Buyers under 21 purchasing a long gun get an enhanced background check that can take up to 10 business days.
