Buying a Gun From Another State: What Federal Law Allows
You can buy a firearm from a dealer in another state, including an online dealer like us. Federal law sets how it reaches you, and the rule is different for handguns and long guns.
Handguns
A dealer may not sell or deliver a handgun to someone who lives in another state (18 U.S.C. § 922(b)(3)). So a handgun from an out-of-state seller ships to a licensed dealer in your own state, and you complete the transfer there.
Rifles and shotguns
A dealer may sell a rifle or shotgun to a resident of another state in person, as long as the sale complies with the laws of both states. Buying online, the simplest route is the same as for a handgun: ship it to a dealer where you live.
Your state's rules still apply
Your dealer can only transfer what is legal where you live. States such as California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Washington restrict particular models, features or magazines. Email us the model and your state before ordering if you are unsure.
